Natural Solutions magazine (naturalsolutionsmag.com) has honored Derma E Natural Bodycare (dermae.com) with a Beauty With a Conscience Editor’s Pick Award for Best Facial Toner.
With Whole Foods Market’s premium body care standard as the basis for the awards’ criteria, the editors of Natural Solutions tested more than 600 products and selected the healthiest beauty care in 33 categories. The news was announced to the magazine’s 225,000 readers in its October 2008 issue.
The Derma E product chosen was Vanilla Bean Revitalizing Toner, an antioxidant-rich, age-defying formula that gently removes cleanser residue, impurities, and closes pores for clean, rebalanced skin.
“Derma E is committed to developing and producing the highest-quality formulations to nourish and care for the entire body and the environment,” says Dr. Linda Miles, L. Ac. D.O.M., vice president.
A Happy Thanksgiving to all, and I’ll see you next Wednesday,
Marc

All Season Nails has debuted a newly redesigned website at allseasonnails.com that’s an easy-to-use resource for beauty store owners and managers as well as nail techs.
One of the top goals of the redesign was to provide insider tips from Star International owner and CEO Tony Cuccio on how to make the nail retail business a more profitable part of beauty stores and salons/spas. The site also provides a way to keep up on nailcare trends and upcoming deals.
“I plan to have a webinar on the All Season website to show beauty store owners and nail techs the importance of upselling and simple techniques on how to best retail and display products,” Cuccio tells me.
See you next Wednesday,

Manufacturers rep firms Van Nest Coleman & Associates (800.888.7377) and Louis & Associates (800.494.2171) are each offering a new line. As of last Saturday, Van Nest Coleman is repping Arius Eickert shears (knifeguys.com) in all four of its territories: the Northeast, the Midwest, the Southwest and the West. And Louis & Associates is now repping Woodward Labs (woodwardlabs.com) in the West.
Arius Eickert is a wholly-owned division of Jarden Consumer Solutions.
Woodward Labs is the maker of Dr. G’s Clear Nail and many other antimicrobial nailcare and skincare products. It is aggressively seeking to expand its full-service distribution, and plans on expanding the Dr G’s offerings to beauty professionals, says Andrew Hillas, the manufacturer’s national sales manager for its beauty division. Dr. G’s has a proven record of success in Sally Beauty Supply stores (sallybeauty.com), and it recently launched in all Beauty Alliance professional-only beauty stores (beautyalliance.com).
Woodward Labs is repped in the Northeast by the Gerry Udell Group (800.535.1919, gerryudell.com).
Hillas (AndyH@woodwardlabs.com, 949.362.4600, ext. 141, fax: 949.362.4601) tells me that he is looking for manufacturer rep firms in the Midwest and the Southeast.

Since the U. S. Transportation Administration implemented its 3-1-1 (3-ounce container/1-quart bag/one bag per person) liquid carry-on regulations for anyone on commercial airplane flights, a number of suppliers to beauty stores have successfully brought to market specially designed containers—often with clear, ziplock plastic bags—and other small-size personal-care products. With a phasing in of a new generation of the latest X-ray equipment, those regulations could be relaxed by next fall and then dropped in 2010, says a blog posted on Friday at TSA’s website (tsa.gov/blog).
As early as fall 2009, the size restriction may be removed, according to the blog. Therefore, shampoos, skincare products and other large personal-care items may be allowed on board. However, “all liquids will have to be placed in a separate bin,” states the blog.
By the end of 2010, there might not be any liquid carry-on restrictions with a uniform standard across the country, notes the blog.
