Sticky Situation: Client Stealing
How do you respond to a staffer stealing client names?
The Situation: "We terminated an employee and she then recruited a co-worker/friend to steal client names out of the computer because she was starting her own business," recalls Summer Langhorne, general manager of milk + honey in Austin, Texas.
The Solution: "Another employee informed us of what was going on," says Langhorne. "She told us the culprit had written down the client names on a piece of paper and placed them in the front of her apron. We knew she had them on her so we asked to see them. After some questioning, she finally confessed and was fired on the spot. The employee who told us about it was rewarded with a free lunch!"
